FacebookHow To Get More social This Holiday Season, Instantly

Here’s a gift idea that costs nothing and takes just two minutes. And this one definitely keeps on giving–to your fellow Chamber members.

All of us want to reach more potential customers, right? And many of our businesses have Facebook fan pages with informative content, specials, and more.

Here’s a super-quick way to send a little love around the internet right now.
1. Go to the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce on Facebook.
2. Halfway down the left-hand column, find “LIKES” and click “SEE ALL”
3. Just scan down the list. If you haven’t previously LIKED a page, click on the little thumb and you’re in.

That’s it.

Well, actually, there is one additional Bonus Gift you can give: READ the content and respond. It’s easy: Ask a question, make a comment, share their post on your page…

Remember: We’re all in this together and the more we support each others efforts, the more ground we all gain.

Thank you!

Dex One – Your Online Business

August’s Question of the Month

Posted August 1st, 2011 by ybo

Q: I work for a general contractor who specializes in “green” building. We do new builds, and remodels, offering solar panels, solar water heaters, radiant heating/cooling, and sustainable roof coatings. Although we do all of this, the best income and most cost effective service we offer is the roof coatings. Do you have any suggestions as to a way to reach our clients besides telephone book ads, and of course our website?

A: Thanks for your question. Thanks also for your listings in the Dex print directory and DexKnows.com and congratulations on two great-looking websites.

You’ve obviously covered those bases but here’s something new to consider: online recommendations from clients. Marketing surveys consistently show that buyers check—and give a lot of credibility to—business or product reviews by consumers. You’ve been in business for almost 30 years and surely have a long list of satisfied customers. Now’s the time to tap into that goodwill.

Ask your clients to give you positive reviews on your listing pages on DexKnows.com, Angie’s List, Yelp, Yahoo! Local and your Google Places page. They don’t have to do all of them but even one or two would be very helpful for you. And ask them to show some thanks by “liking” your Facebook page and posting positive comments about your business (including images of completed construction projects). As a bonus, reviews may boost the ranking on search engines for these pages, giving you more visibility online. Dex One offers a reputation management tool to clients to track reviews online.

One more tip: Your bread and butter business may be roof coating but your site is not ranking well on the search engines for that topic. Be sure to add more text and images about roof coating to your websites and all the sites mentioned above.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Monthly Luncheon – Social Media and the Digital Age

Like it or not, the world today is becoming more and more dependent on the internet. More and more studies indicate that a lot of people make important decisions researching them first online.

Research also indicates that people depend on other people’s experiences to make decisions on products andservices. With the advent of Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and other such social media, information travels around the world much faster.

Social media can give you credibility to your online visibility (web presence), a better opportunity of being found through search, a premium avenue to provide customer service, and a cheap / effective marketing tool that will bring results if used consistently and correctly.

If you are hesitant to jump on to the internet and social media bandwagon, come find out why you should, or else you might find yourself alone on sidelines as potential customers pass you by on their way to your competitors.

Time: 12:00-1:30pm
