Free CERT Class
They say it is never to late to prepare. Officials say that the Pacific NW is due for a large earthquake similar to those that recently hit Japan. There are more risks than just an earthquake and there are tools to help you learn how to be prepared.
CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) is about personal and neighborhood readiness, ordinary people helping each other, and citizen rescuer safety. CERT is a positive and realistic approach to emergency and disaster situations that takes into account the fact that citizens will initially be on their own. It is important to remember that with just a little training, individuals can make a lifesaving
difference.
Register today if you would like to be prepared.
Classes will be held at Mt. Hood Community College on Saturday March 3rd and Saturday March 10th.
Here are some hands on exercises and basic skills you will learn if you take a CERT class.
. Local disaster awareness
. Basic fire safety, suppression and utilities management
. Terrorism and hazardous materials awareness
. Basic first aid
. Light search and rescue
. Organization / management / situational awareness
