News Release from: Sandy Fire District
SANDY AREA RESIDENTS ARE ASKED TO PREPARE FOR SMOKE IN THE AREA
Posted: September 6th, 2011 4:44 PM
The Dollar Fire is still growing and with weather patterns predicted for the early morning hours crews are expecting the fire to grow. “This means that our local residents will most likely see smoke tomorrow (Wednesday, Sept 7th)” Said Deputy Chief Phil Schneider, Sandy Fire District “We would like to err on the side of safety and ask that residents with chronic respiratory illnesses consider staying inside during the day”. Fire officials want to remind Sandy residents that the fire is currently East of Lolo Pass approximately 25 miles away from Sandy Fire District and no current warnings exist for the Sandy community.
The weather is expected to be in the mid 90′s tomorrow. “Heat related emergencies kill more people than all other natural disasters combined” said Alice Busch, Public Information Officer, Sandy Fire “Since we are asking people with compromised health to stay indoors, it would be nice if their neighbors could check in on them. If you have a nice cool basement or air conditioning and wouldn’t mind inviting a few neighbors who may not be so fortunate over for a afternoon movie or other relaxing activity, that would be wonderful”.
