Want to Go Green?

EV Charging StationPGE is offering free EV charging stations to businesses as part of the federal EV Project. Until the end of this year, grand funding is available toward installation of free EV charging stations for businesses that are destinations, such as retail or urban centers with publicly available parking spaces.

PE is working with ECOtality, which is the government contractor selected for the EV Project, to install the charging stations at local homes and businesses. ECOtality provides the charging stations and will provide a credit toward the installation.

If you are interested in installing an EV charging station, you can email PGE at PlugIn@pgn.com. They’ll provide you with details about the program and figure out if your location is a good fit. They’ll also get you connected with the pros at ECOtality.

What would a government shutdown mean for Oregon?

Friday, April 8th, 2011

If the federal government comes to a partial stop Saturday morning, Oregonians will still receive their Social Security and Medicare benefits.

But the good news only goes so far. If you have problems with those services, resolving them will be difficult. Workers at Social Security and Health and Human Services who might help are likely to be furloughed; no one will answer the phone. Nor is it likely you’ll find relief by contacting any of Oregon’s five House members or two senators. Staffers who handle those issues will be sent home until funding is restored.

“We anticipate that all of our state offices will be closed,” said Julie Edwards, spokeswoman for Sen. Jeff Merkley. “Meetings will be canceled, including the town halls we have scheduled for this week, and constituent services requests will not be processed until regular government functions resume.”

The Northwest Connectory, a buyer-supplier database

Saturday, May 15th, 2010

Oregon is home to an impressive array of world-class companies with state-of-the-art product lines, technical expertise and manufacturing capabilities, ready and able to supply customers anywhere on the globe. In order to help potential clients identify Oregon companies who can meet their needs—and continue to build value-added supply chains in Oregon—Business Oregon is partnering with the Pacific Northwest Defense Coalition to present The Northwest Connectory. This robust and detailed buyer-supplier database will launch on the Business Oregon Web site in March.

What is the Northwest Connectory?

The Northwest Connectory is an online database that contains detailed profiles of Pacific Northwest companies across all industries at every level of the supply chain.
• The purpose of the tool is to link Oregon businesses to opportunities around the region via a robust, searchable, online “buyer-supplier” database.
• The database contains detailed company profiles submitted by the companies themselves and includes fields that describe specific capabilities, products and services. The information provided is verified by our staff.
• This is a free service – businesses don’t have to pay anything to join or use the database.
• The Northwest Connectory is created in partnership with Connectory.com, a proven business development tool that has been successfully deployed in Southern California to promote companies and foster business-to-business interaction.
• At launch, the database will feature approximately 500 Oregon profiles and it will be the only business-to-business tool of its kind available at no cost to participants or users.
• Business Oregon and the Pacific Northwest Defense Coalition are rapidly collecting and processing company profiles statewide to increase the value and reach of the tool as quickly as possible.

How can I add my company to The Northwest Connectory?

• Fill out and submit the online intake form via www.oregon4biz.com
• Contact your local Business Oregon business development officer or global trade specialist if you need assistance with your profile: www.oregon4biz.com/map.php
• Confirm the contents of your profile and make it “live” on the system by responding to the email you will receive within 1-2 weeks of submitting your completed intake form
