This Week Around Town…
In Around Town this week, we would like to recognize a Sandy High student Rebecca Woodcock. Rebecca has chosen to hold a fundraiser for her senior project. This fundraiser is to help local 3-year-old Myiah raise money for therapy that is needed. Myiah has Rett Syndrome. Rett syndrome causes seizures, reducing mobility, and making it difficult to speak or swallow. If you would like to help Rebecca raise funds for Myiah’s therapy you can donate items for the rummage sale fundraiser she is putting together by e-mailing miracle4myiah@yahoo.com or call 503.668.8117. The Rummage sale will be held February 4th from 9am-2pm at the Sandy Community/Senior Center 38348 Pioneer Blvd.

A Very Social Holiday
Monday, December 5th, 2011
How To Get More social This Holiday Season, Instantly
Here’s a gift idea that costs nothing and takes just two minutes. And this one definitely keeps on giving–to your fellow Chamber members.
All of us want to reach more potential customers, right? And many of our businesses have Facebook fan pages with informative content, specials, and more.
Here’s a super-quick way to send a little love around the internet right now.
1. Go to the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce on Facebook.
2. Halfway down the left-hand column, find “LIKES” and click “SEE ALL”
3. Just scan down the list. If you haven’t previously LIKED a page, click on the little thumb and you’re in.
That’s it.
Well, actually, there is one additional Bonus Gift you can give: READ the content and respond. It’s easy: Ask a question, make a comment, share their post on your page…
Remember: We’re all in this together and the more we support each others efforts, the more ground we all gain.
Thank you!

Want to Go Green?
Wednesday, September 21st, 2011
PGE is offering free EV charging stations to businesses as part of the federal EV Project. Until the end of this year, grand funding is available toward installation of free EV charging stations for businesses that are destinations, such as retail or urban centers with publicly available parking spaces.
PE is working with ECOtality, which is the government contractor selected for the EV Project, to install the charging stations at local homes and businesses. ECOtality provides the charging stations and will provide a credit toward the installation.
If you are interested in installing an EV charging station, you can email PGE at PlugIn@pgn.com. They’ll provide you with details about the program and figure out if your location is a good fit. They’ll also get you connected with the pros at ECOtality.
Want to learn more about the EV charging stations? Read more about EV charging stations at PGE.

Sandy Mainstreet Facade Improvements
Monday, September 19th, 2011
Have you been wondering about all the facade improvements that are taking place around Sandy? In an effort to make the downtown core more appealing, the Mainstreet facade program has offered up thousands of dollars in matching grants to improve a number of businesses downtown, including the Sandy River Brewery and Cool Printing.
The facade program has three goals:
- To improve the aesthetic appearance of the exterior façades of existing buildings in the central business district
- To restore the unique historic character of buildings in the district
- To encourage private investment in downtown properties
Want to find out more about the facade program and what it’s doing for Sandy? Read about the latest round of improvements in the Sandy Post.
