This Week Around Town…

In Around Town this week, we would like to recognize a Sandy High student Rebecca Woodcock. Rebecca has chosen to hold a fundraiser for her senior project. This fundraiser is to help local 3-year-old Myiah raise money for therapy that is needed. Myiah has Rett Syndrome. Rett syndrome causes seizures, reducing mobility, and making it difficult to speak or swallow. If you would like to help Rebecca raise funds for Myiah’s therapy you can donate items for the rummage sale fundraiser she is putting together by e-mailing miracle4myiah@yahoo.com or call 503.668.8117. The Rummage sale will be held February 4th from 9am-2pm at the Sandy Community/Senior Center 38348 Pioneer Blvd.

Fall for the Arts Artist Highlight – James Flori

Friday, October 14th, 2011

We are gearing up for the 2011 Fall for Arts on October 27th at Club Paesano in Gresham.

We’d like to introduce you to one of the artist’s whose work will be available for auction at the event.

James Flori

James Flori is an artist and a musician. One of the pieces he has provided for the auction is a John Lennon lithograph print.

John Lennon

Here’s what James says about the print:

“I drew that with pen and ink in 1980 just before he was killed. I was a salesman for IBM at the time and when I took it into work to show people, everybody said I should sell prints, so I did. I did the other three Beatles, made lithographs and sold them at fan conventions in New York, LA and Miami. That Lennon print even turned up on TV as a prop in the apartment of Richard Lewis in a sitcom called ‘Anything but Love’.”

Pretty great, huh?

If you’d like to bid on these great piece of art, join us for the Fall for the Arts!
